Hello, my name is Caleb Elkins. I am interning under Phil Hudson here at New Missions
Systems this summer. I have been doing everything from helping him with big projects to
mailing letters for him. But the main purpose of the internship has had to do with a discipleship
mentorship, and already I have learned so much. It has been nice getting to know everyone here
and learn about their responsibilities. As someone who one day wants to live on the field, it has
been very encouraging to see all that NMSI does for their missionaries on the field.
As of this week, Phil was in offsite meetings a lot toward the beginning of the week. So, I

Later in the week, I spent a lot of time with Phil running errands. It’s been good because we had a
lot of really good conversation.
As for next week, I will be headed to Acton University, conference located in Grand
Rapids, Michigan, with Phil and Jayson. I’m not 100% sure what to expect, but I am really
excited to listen and learn. Acton is an intellectual missions conference that focuses on bettering
global economics. It is filled with conferences on many different topics and opportunities to
learn about what is happening in the world.

Overall my internship at NMSI has been great! I have loved being here. God has been
showing me a lot. I have been living by myself for the first time in my life this summer, which
has been a great learning experience to have before I get married at the end of the summer. I
have been trying to really use this time alone to focus on my relationship with God and discipline
myself in daily routine. Thank you all for your prayers and support! –Caleb
